Basic Beliefs

The Scriptures– We believe the Bible, the sixty-six books in Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired word of God, and, therefore, without error in the original writings. They are sufficient to provide the ultimate standard for faith and practice as well as the ultimate standard by which we judge all human conduct, beliefs and opinions.

God – We believe there is one true and living God who exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. There is no division in their nature, essence or being, yet they each have a distinct ministry. God is the creator and sustainer of all things and is worthy of worship.

Creation – We believe all creation including the physical and spiritual realms, time and man was created out of nothing. In Genesis 1 each time the word “day” is mentioned, it should be understood as a literal 24-hour period of time.

Man – We believe man is the special creation of God, in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation and gave them the responsibility of the stewardship of creation. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Because God created man in His own image, every person of every ethnicity possesses dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

Sin – We believe sin is defined as falling short of the glory of God and a failure to conform to the moral law of God as man rebels and acts independently of Him. Temptations to sin come from three sources: the world, the flesh and spiritual powers.

Salvation – We believe salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer.

The Church - A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is a self-governing local congregation of baptized believers, associated by membership and observing the two ordinances of Christ (baptism and communion), and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. Its scriptural officers are elders and deacons. While both men and women are gifted for service in the church, these offices are limited to men as specified by Scripture.

The Family - God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood or adoption. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime.

Life - We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions from conception to natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life.

Last Things – We believe the next event prophesied in the Bible is the imminent return of Christ to rapture the church. Following a tribulation period of seven years, Christ will return to the Earth to set up His Millennial Kingdom, where Christ will reign for one thousand years. Finally, God will destroy the current heaven and earth and create new ones in which He will reign eternally and believers will dwell with Him. Unbelievers will be judged, eternally separated from God.
