Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is a ministry organized by Samaritan's Purse that collects shoeboxes full of gifts and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Last year Samaritan's Purse sent 11 Million shoe boxes to children around the world. SP works with national pastors to organize the distribution of the boxes. Each pastor organizes a "party" and invites the children from their village and surrounding areas to attend. The children have to respond and sign-up prior to the party so organizers know many to expect. When they arrive, the children are greeted by church members and have the opportunity to participate in games and activities. They also enjoy watching skits before the pastor shares a gospel presentation and gives the children the opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. Those who make a decision to follow Christ are then invited to attend a 12 week discipleship program where they will be able to continue to learn and grow in their faith. Following the party each child receives a shoe box that contains gifts and gospel literature in their own language to take with them and share with their families. It is estimated that each shoe box will reach about 10 people with the gospel of Christ!
